I have never won a drawing contest, but I really really want to win Sakuracon's mascott contest. Its the only way I can get a table at Artist alley. (Sad, isn't it?) I have to submitt this to them later today, and I am still polishing up the edges. but.......
EDIT: OK, its sent. wow! Over 60 people commented and tried to help me improve. That's incredible, *sigh* I love Deviantart.
EDIT EDIT: I can't turn off extreme critique!!! *cries* I don't mean it anymore.
Oh, wow! I love the beautiful colors!
I know you'd like extreme criticism for this piece, but I honestly cannot find a single flaw in it. Seriously. The onyl thing I can find is that the branch she's holding, on her right hand, seems as though it were colored too far into her hand--there's a little brown on her hand where the branch is supposed to end, see? Other than that one thing, there is no mistake in this piece. Excellent, excellent work! *fave*
This is very nice I don't really see a problem with anything in this picture but the branch looks like it's sticking through her finger a little when I viewed it full view and her ponytail at the end needs to be colored to the lines because I still see white spots but this is a very beautiful colorful picture how do you get these nice cg colors! Nice work she is very pretty
other than incomplete coloring, and it being a bit messy in areas.. I can't see anything really. So! Finish that branch, makes sure you erase the little part that got onto her hand....touch up parts on her for coloring ( there are spots down on you left hand side of her sleeves [HER right, YOUR left]) Fix her ponytil...and I think you could make the highlights smoother in her hair. The highights are rather chunky...so, thin then, I guess. lol. that's about it... :-/ the picture is so cute!! ^.^ if your not going to do a background, maybe put a shadow underneath
Straighten up your coloring. The end of the ponytail was mentioned, but also just.. clean it up. It looks really sloppy in the hair, and you don't have any shading on the hakama pants. If you're going to cel the entire thing, do those as well, especially more detail done to her feet. You have the top part of her sock shaded, but the toe part has no shading. o_o; .. Unless that was intentional!
Add some minor shading on the folds on her haori at the top part where her shoulder is. That seems a little bland and flat. At first her left arm (right for us) seemed a little out of proportion by being too short compared to the other arm, but I think it could just be perspective views varying, too. Like her arm is pulled back more to make it seem shorter. o_o I dunno.
Aaand that's all I can see. Wonderful job! Good luck!
I want to OWN that kimono! I think everything looks fine really. Lovely shaded and crisp. I would worry about the bow and the tuft of hair below it....though I'm sure you fixed that already. You said you were polishing.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
